The Sesti estate consists of 102 hectares (254 acres) of land, of which nine hectares are planted to vineyards. The rest is given to olive groves grazing or woodland.
The vineyards are in the enviable position of being on the southern slopes of Montalcino, where some of the most prestigious Brunello comes from.

Grew up and studied in Venice. Eclectic by nature over the years he has dedicated himself to the history of astronomy, on which subject he has written five books, both on ancient calender systems and the story of the Celestial Sphere. For thirty years he organised the festival of Baroque opera at Batignano in Tuscany at the same time as restoring the medieval hamlet of Castello di Argiano including the cellars and the planting of olive groves and the vineyards. His study of both the Classics and Oral tradition brought him to re-evaluate the influence of the moon on the vines and in turn the making of the wine itself, reducing to the minimum the level of sulphites used. ln I975 he had already published tables of the small and larger Moon cycles for agricultural use in order to reduce the use of chemicals on the land.

Born in Tuscany, Elisa grew up at Castello di Argiano, educated in Italy and England, having spent a year at the Sorbonne, she took her Degree in Theatre Design and Classical Architecture in London. In 1999 she returned to Italy to help with the expansion of the family wine estate of which she is now co-director. Responsible for international wine presentations and sales she is also deeply involved in the wine making process.

PHENOMENA is the name given to the Brunello di Montalcino RISERVA to commemorate a significant astronomical event which occurred during the year of harvest. On the 13th of November 2012 Stargazers witness a splendid Solar Eclipse in the Region of the South Pacific and Australia at the time when the Sun was crossing the Zodiacal Sign of Libra. The graphics of the label of various years, while keeping the name SESTI and PHENOMENA, change in both image and colour.
